Do fashion schools teach you how to sew?
I'm interested in studying fashion design, particularly at Central Saint Martins in London, which I've heard is pretty much the Harvard of fashion design schools so it's safe to say I feel quite intimidated. I think with my technical skills, I might get in but I'm afraid they might expect me to already have some basic knowledge of sewing. Do they (or fashion schools in general) teach you how to sew or should you have some basic knowledge before applying? Thanks in advance.

- Sure.
- i think it would probably help you if you took a class before you go into fashion school. im sure you can find a class that doesnt cost much and will teach you some good things about sewing. i took a few classes a few years back, and it helped me a ton. if youre into fashion its deff. something you wont regreat.
- Why not ask what their entrance requirements for the program are? I'm sure you'd be ahead with some basic knowledge of clothing construction methods, even if it's simply gleaned from taking apart thrift shop clothing. But a good course in basic construction techniques, fabric handling, and even types of fabrics will serve you well.
- I would consider taking a textile cource at your local college. Fashion design schools only teach fashion drawing not sewing sew watch out. Laugh out loud
